Raekwon Flexes on a Hot Reggae Track & the Result is Straight Fire (Audio)

On his 46th birthday, Raekwon can be heard destroying the mic on a track that doesn’t sound like much else that he’s released over the course of his prolific career. The Wu-Tang Clan’s resident Chef was last heard on Busta Rhyme’s Christmas-Day mixtape, The Return Of The Dragon (The Abstract Went On Vacation) on the warning-filled street anthem “Watch How You Move,” but on this latest release, Heads are invited to hear a side of Rae not often heard.

On “Be Inspired,” the Staten Island spitter dances around a Reggae-tinged record that was originally uploaded on YouTube back in November. Produced by Damian Marley and Chronixx collaborator (and label owner of Overstand Entertainment) Winta James, the blistering cut also features verses from Kabaka Pyramid, a Kingston, Jamaica native who was named Breakthrough Artist of the Year by the Jamaican Record Industry Association in 2013. The collab is an installment of Walshy Fire Presents put on by the Major Lazer member and serves as the lead single from a soundtrack for the forthcoming freestyle-ski film of the same name, scheduled for release later this year.
