Straight Outta Compton Gets An Oscar Nomination
Although N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton was not included in the recent Golden Globes Awards (or even its nominations), the Academy Awards see the film differently.
This morning (January 14), the nominations for the 88th Academy Awards were announced. Variety reports that the F. Gary Gray-directed film is nominated for “Original Screenplay.” If the film wins, the Oscar award will go to writers Jonathan Herman, Andrea Berloff, S. Leigh Savidge, and Alan Wenkus.
Herman was recently in the news as the writer tapped for the latest Scarface remake. Berloff previously penned the script to Oliver Stone’s World Trade Center, 9/11 film. Savidge had covered Dr. Dre and Suge Knight before, in executive producing unauthorized documentary Welcome To Death Row. Wenkus is a former radio executive.
