One of 2016’s most exciting collaborations crosses the coastline. The Roots’ Black Thought, Hieroglyphics’ Del The Funky Homosapien, Felt’s Murs, and Fashawn all come together for “Rise Up.” The song is for Street Fighter V, the game, but it is by no means a simple marketing ploy.

Instead, this visual—which travels from studio to studio to catch the MCs in their element (and captures Questlove and Domino too) is about pride and perseverance. Each artist seems to pen a verse that could easily belong to their own album work, with attention to detail, personal revelation, and some cool flow on the pepped-up beat. Thought, who busts his verse last, goes all in—with the compound rhymes and slick Illadelph cadence.

Heads who like this sound ought to know that Murray and Fash’ did a whole album together a few years back.
