The same night Kendrick Lamar won big at the 2016 Grammy Awards (February 15), his mentor, and label-mate has suffered a serious injury. According to Top Dawg Entertainment’s founder, Top Dawg, Jay Rock was hurt badly in a motorcycle accident.

The Watts, California MC’s status is believed to be stable, despite multiple bone breaks — information shared about the motorcycle accidents in two tweets from his employer. The TDE artist released sophomore album 90059 in 2015.

He did not appear on To Pimp A Butterfly, the album largely responsible for Kendrick Lamar’s five Grammy wins. The two artists are two-fourths of the recording group Black Hippy.
