Musiq Soulchild is one of the foremost talents in the Neo-Soul movement, helping to spearhead the influx of the genre in the late ’90s and early ’00s. Like Erykah Badu, D’Angelo and others, the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania crooner flawlessly blends the stylings of contemporary R&B with traditional Soul and Hip-Hop, a quality he has remained loyal to since his 2000 platinum-selling debut Aijuswanaseing. Six albums later and the impending release of his next LP is upon us; Life On Earth is scheduled for an April 15 arrival and is buoyed by the lead single “I Do.” A wedding anthem for today’s generation, the song has been brought to life in a touching music video, the song has been followed up with today’s release of “Heart Away,” and this one knocks.

Reminiscent of early work like “Speechless,” today’s arrival carries within it a true Hip-Hop sensibility, sporting an infectious boom-bap beat and Musiq’s world-class vocal abilities. Heads are bound to thoroughly enjoy the fingerprints of early Naughty By Nature coursing through “Heart Away,” and steadfast Neo-Soul fans are treated to the harmonies Musiq does better than anyone.
