Vince Staples Hits a Trippy House Party & Invites Us Along for the Ride (Video)
Last summer, Major Lazer’s Switch released “Ghost,” an Electronica inspired Hip-Hop party anthem. Now releasing music as part of a newly founded group With You, he left Major Lazer back in 2011 and has since worked with everybody from M.I.A. to Christina Aguilera. Today, With You. dropped the song’s music video, but it’s so much more than that. In its traditional form alone it’s already a phantasmagoric experience shot in a first-person style and set in a raging house party. With plenty of drugs and alcohol made available to the video’s leading character, tons of dope special effects are implemented to mimic the effects of LSD, mushrooms, lean, and more. It’s a serious trip, but that’s only the beginning.
On With You.’s website, the Vince McKelvie-directed video becomes an immersive, interactive affair in which users are able to “play” along, allowing for the pausing of the music video to experience visual effects not present in its standard form. Viewers can virtually join in on the fun, using mouse clicks to influence the main character’s behavior.
