Jurassic 5 Service Fans With Their First New Song in a Decade (Audio)

The last time Los Angeles, California group Jurassic 5 put out a new album, George W. Bush was President and Instagram was still four years away. While much of the world has changed since Feedback arrived on July 25, 2006, there do remain a few constants, two being the perennial desire for high-quality Hip-Hop and a deep appreciation for thoughtful customer service. J5 has managed to address both in their newest single, a bass-driven, deeply in-the-pocket jam that makes it evident quality control is still important to the team. As the group’s first re-entry into releasing recorded music as a unit since a 2007 breakup, there exists no tinge of negativity – but what else can one expect from the minds behind “What’s Golden” ?

“Customer Service” is produced by fellow Angeleno (and J5 DJ) Nu-Mark, whose work with Aloe Blacc, Bumpy Knuckles, J-Live, the Pharcyde’s Slimkid3, and others has made him a staple of the truly attentive underground Rap fan. His linking with J5 on their latest single will likely not come as a surprise to Heads, as Nu-Mark previously worked with Chali 2na on the latter’s 2009 solo LP Fish Outta Water. However this time, the crew’s all here and the end result is just as lyrical, uplifting, relatable, and positively dope as anything in Jurassic 5’s nearly 20-year-old discography.

Jurassic 5 has also announced European tour dates and an August appearance in Colorado.
