Skyzoo & Apollo Brown Have An Album Coming. Here’s The Striking First Single (Audio)

Apollo Brown has fancied himself the producer-to-see to give lyricists a new sound. Ras Kass stood as the illest Hip-Hop heretic in Blasphemy. Diggin’ In The Crates legend O.C. got medals for Trophies. Random Axe’s Guilty Simpson rolled big in Dice Game. Next up, Skyzoo will release a full-length project with the highly-accomplished Detroit, Michigan producer.

Releasing September 30, The Easy Truth is the latest project for S-K-Y, who one year ago self-released Music For My Friends. After lots of work with !llmind, as well as storied joints with DJ Premier, 9th Wonder, and Khrysis, the Brooklyn, New Yorker has a new collaborative vision in mind.

First single “One In The Same” suggests some new dimensions for both Apollo and Sky’. The Barrel Brothers co-founder raps about the mixed pressures around him growing up in B.K. He deftly chronicles keeping his parents proud, and fulfilling his ambitions of grandeur. While Apollo regularly samples vocals, this time he lets pianos and drums evoke the emotion. Patty Crash (of several Roots songs) takes on the chorus in this dramatic first look.

As Apollo and Skyzoo have both built strong independent careers over the last decade, this Mello Music Group LP may double the impact for these talented artists. The Easy Truth will feature Joell Ortiz and Stalley, among others.
