Da Brat Claims She & JD Are The 2016 EPMD. So Wat ‘Cha Sayin’? (Audio)

Da Brat and her mentor Jermaine Dupri are hard at work on the first collaborative mixtape of their career. The two So So Def Records MCs who have worked together for more than 22 years will title the work Business As Usual. Referencing EPMD in that act alone is not enough, Brat downright says it on new single “BIG Brother x LIL Sister.”

The song is about the bond between these two, despite the hiatuses and lengthy layovers. Da Brat chimes, “We’re in this bitch like the 2016 EPMD.” JD compares the chemistry between the two to Bun B and Pimp C, Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, and others. The tandem wants any boy-girl batteries to step up if they think they’re better, while raising the So So Def flag at full mast for ’94, 2000, and 2016. This follows the Timbaland-produced “Alessandro Michele,” released earlier this month.

This duo aims to be positioned beside the greats. After so much time, hits in multiple decades, no breakups (which Dre and Snoop, Erick and Parrish cannot claim), who can say they aren’t?
