De La Soul Performed Their Pete Rock Joint With Help From The Roots (Video)

Anybody who has gotten the chance to watch De La Soul perform live knows the Long Island, New York trio puts on one of the greatest shows in Hip-Hop. More than 25 years after dropping their debut LP 3 Feet High and Rising, Posdnuos, Dave, and Maceo are still able to rock a crowd, no matter how big or small the venue. They did just that last night (September 27) on The Tonight Show, where they were joined by Estelle for a live rendition of “Memory of… (Us),” a Pete Rock production from the Plugs’s latest album, and the Anonymous Nobody.

With The Roots backing them up, De La Soul were in perfect unison for their performance, down to their dance moves. Thought the stage was small, their energy level was not lacking in the least, and the live strings section made the sound lush and expansive. It’s one of the group’s first televised performances since releasing their 9th full-length album and although a formal tour in support of the LP has yet to be announced, there is little doubt that such an announcement would be enthusiastically embraced by Heads around the world.

The Plugs do, however, have a handful of upcoming international performances coming up.
