Mayhem & Akrobatik Combat The World We Live In With Introspective Rhymes (Video)

The Roxbury section of Boston is known for rhymes that are both heavy and hard. Gang Starr’s Guru as well as Ed O.G. & Da Bulldogs helped put the ‘Bury on the Rap map (after already garnering heavy recognition thanks to New Edition and Bell Biv DeVoe), with songs that had ambition, substance, and flare. More than 25 years after, Mayhem of EMS Productions is a Roxbury-raised MC that holds that fabric close.

Preparing to release Soul It May Seem with Swiss production team The Soulslicers this year, Mayhem hit 2017 with lead single “World We Live It.” The music video features veteran Boston MC Akrobatik of The Perceptionists fame between two Mayhem verses, and a chirped-up Soul beat. While the visual uses distorted colors, it is a straightforward analysis of some disturbing trends in government, society, and pop culture. As these two MCs examine the 2017 cosmos, does “World We Live In” hold your focus?
