Detroit vs. Everybody: Eminem & Big Sean Refuse To Be Outdone On “No Favors” (Audio)

Two of Detroit’s most successful rappers have teamed up on a phenomenal duet, in the form of “No Favors.” The most exciting song from forthcoming album I Decided features none other than Eminem, Motor City’s King of Rap. Premiering January 18 on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show, the song’s unveiling was coupled with an interview from Sean, who spoke to Lowe about what the collaboration meant to him and shared some other details about the new album.

It’s near the 20:00 mark that Lowe asks Sean to discuss “No Favors,” and it’s clear from the get-go that he’s regarding the collab as the career milestone it is. “It reminded me of why I am such an Eminem fan,” says Sean. “He’s unique. He’s special.” Adding “When I heard Eminem’s verse, I played it back over and over and over again. I think I was just sitting in the studio [in shock],” Sean is clearly basking in the momentous occasion that is having Marshall Mathers on his album. Sean also comments on Em’s lyrics, saying “all the things he said were so necessary for the album. I’m glad he addressed things that conceptually weren’t addressed.”

Big Sean Wants All The Attention On His Lyrics, NOT His Life (Audio)

Elsewhere in the interview above, Sean and Zane touch upon the rapper’s progression as an artist, how his personal life has affected his creative process, other artists featured on the album, and much more. Big Sean also details playing the album for Andre 3000, who he says told him “it feels like you didn’t waste one line on this whole album.” That is a major compliment coming from one of Hip-Hop’s most celebrated artists. I Decided arrived today (February 3).
