Page Kennedy Is The Boogeyman & Mumble Rap Is His Prey (Video)

Detroit’s Page Kennedy will be releasing Torn Pages on March 10, an album featuring Royce 5’9, Kxng Crooked, Elzhi, Marsha Ambrosius, and more. The celebrated television actor has also amassed adulation for his rhyme skills, and he’s out for more blood. Today (February 3), he drops “The Boogeyman,” a verbal assault waged against mumble Rap and all those who promote it.

In fact, the song’s subtitle is “Mumble Rap Killer,” and from the lyrics it’s clear that one of Ambrosia For Heads’ “Ready or Not” video alumni is not kidding. “And now I’m chillin’ and willin’ to start spillin’ your blood / That’s how I blast back, not only rappers get they ass capped / You wouldn’t pull up on a Pop Tart / No legacy, integrity thinner than Calista Flockhart / I was battlin’ before URL / Not the battle league, the actual URL on your computer,” he blasts. Telling other MCs “you couldn’t ride a beat in an Uber,” the song is filled with tongue-and-cheek punchlines with what feels like not a breath wasted on anything but lyrical jabs.
