DJ Premier has had a busy June. After years upon years in the making, he and Year Round Records released MC Eiht’s Which Way Iz West album. Furthermore, Preemo, Brady Watt, and the rest of The Badder Band toured the States for the first time. With PRhyme 2 confirmed to be in the works, and material is coming from Torii Wolf and others, 2017 is only going to heat up more.

DJ Premier Releases The Official Version Of His 1992 Collabo With Mobb Deep (Audio)

With nearly 30 years on wax, Preemo’s dynamic discography continues to expand. In appreciation for the many “Works Of Mart” (Premier’s production company), the Take It Personal radio show wanted to show admiration and appreciation. After all, their name comes from a Gang Starr cut. Thereby, PhilaFlava, Kevlar, and DJ 360 put together 380 minutes, 221 songs, and went to work. It comes in two parts, bringing back cassette-era mixtape vibes. It is no cut-and-paste mix either. Instead, in true adherence to Hip-Hop and DJ culture, there’s live mixing, scratching, blending, and a work of art onto itself.

Besides how it’s made, this two-part mix includes songs that some forget exist: remixes by Arrested Development, ‘Mega, and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, pivotal underground joints by Edo. G and J-Live, and deep cuts by Sauce Money, The Lady Of Rage, and D&D All-Stars. Yeah, those unforgettable joints by Biggie, Gang Starr, and Nas are sprinkled throughout too.
