Fred The Godson Delivers One Of The Year’s Best Freestyles & Makes It Look Easy (Video)

Late last month, The Bronx, New York Rap veteran Fred The Godson released his Gordo album. Fat with features, the nickname-eponymous LP includes Joell Ortiz, Dave East, and Vado, among others. Part of what put Fred on the map is his voracious freestyle skills.

Appearing alongside Funkmaster Flex (a longtime purveyor of MCs like F.T.G.), The Godson powers forward with punchlines such as “Who want it with me? My shooters carry two .45s, like a quarter to 3,” “Can’t tell what I might spit. Like Pippen in Salt Lake City, I carry the mic (Mike) sick,” and “Flow lazy, I (eye) say it ain’t a B.I.G. thing.” He throws some additional (and clever) Biggie-inspired similes and wordplay lines.

Meanwhile, Flex reacts animatedly, even as Fred’s protege Jaquae throws some bars of his own, over the JAY-Z & R. Kelly “Best Of Both Worlds” intro instrumental:
