Mozzy Fits In Nicely With Rap’s Top Dawgs. He & Jay Rock Extend Their Chemistry (Audio)

California spitter Mozzy has been making quite a name for himself as of late. The Oak Park, Sacramento native appeared on Black Panther: The Album’s cut “Seasons” (alongside Sjava and Reason) and has already received praise from members of Top Dawg Entertainment, including Kendrick Lamar and his Grammy award reception shout-out. “As my guy Mozzy say, you know, God up top, all the time, real talk, you know?” K-Dot told the crowd, referencing Mozzy’s 1 Up Top Ahk project after receiving his award for “Best Rap Album” for DAMN.

Now, Mozzy is re-upping his music grind along with another TDE mainstay and past collaborator. Jay Rock lights some fire on the “Nobody Knows” collabo’ single. Mozzy opens things up with bars that relate to the song’s title: “I had to grind / Had a lot of money on my mind / Started off with a drawer full of dimes / Started looking for love, it was hard for me to find / B*tches tell me they love me, never believed they lies / Ni**as tell me they love me, never believe they lies / I promise if you my brother, I always want you to shine.”

Jay follows, and in the spirit of being one of Hip-Hop’s best guest verse artists, shows why once more by echoing all the mistrust and betrayal he’s encountered throughout his life. Loyalty is heavily stressed on this one. “If the shoe fits, wear that b*tch,” he raps. “Situation’s dirty, then you clean up quick / One mop, two cans on some aerosol sh*t.”

“Nobody Knows” is the first single from Mozzy’s forthcoming EP, Spiritual Conversations, which is due out on March 2. The six-track project features appearances from YFN Lucci, Terrace Martin, Phora, and frequent collaborator DCMBR, who laid some pretty euphoric vocals on this latest song.
