Bobby Brown’s life story is an inspirational and cautionary tale. The Boston, Massachusetts-bred “Every Little Step” singer who achieved worldwide fame as a solo artist following his departure from New Edition in the mid-1980s. By the ’90s, Brown also played a hand in molding Top 40 radio to accept more of the Rap style which inspired his sound.

After a meteoric rise, Bobby’s subsequent career fall remains one of the most puzzling stories in music history. In his upcoming TV biopic The Bobby Brown Story, an extension from critically-acclaimed The New Edition Story in 2017, the film that reveals Brown’s moments of triumph, decadence, self-defeat, tragedy, and redemption. The trailer for Brown’s film offers a montage of emotional scenes:

Earlier this week, Brown himself stated at the 2018 BET Awards that the film’s trailer is a raw look with more revelations of past secrets of himself that have finally come to light. There is wide variety of highlighted scenes in the clip: Brown on tour being arrested for imitating lewd sex acts onstage, his lavish lifestyle as a former “King of R&B,” a crippling drug addiction, life-threatening mishaps in the streets, financial peril, betrayal of loved ones, and a behind-the-scenes look at his marriage to late music icon Whitney Houston.

In April, Bobby told AllHipHop, “I think all of the scenes that we’ve shot so far are great. I’m most of all looking to [reenacting] the good times, other than just the bad times. That’s where I think I’m gonna really appreciate the work that these actors are doing.”
