Already this year, Royce 5’9 has released two hearty albums. The first is the second installment of his collaboration with producer DJ Premier, PRhyme 2. He quickly followed with his latest solo set, Book Of Ryan, which featured a smorgasborg of A-list MCs including Eminem, J. Cole, Jadakiss, and others.
Last night (July 31), Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre played host to a concert featuring another gathering of exceptional rappers. Nas, Black Star, Pusha-T, Brother Ali, and Royce all took the stage in Morrison.

Ambrosia For Heads filmed as Nickel Nine transformed before the crowd with one of his biggest songs. The Bad Meets Evil co-founder displayed his most recent Eminem collaboration, “Caterpillar,” belonging to Book Of Ryan. Royce bodies the mic from the jump, ripping off the track’s introductory verse warning the lesser MCs in the game of his adept skills.
“Don’t you grade me next to these rappers, baby, that’s degrading / My style got so many different facets / I switch into so many different passions / I’m skippin’ class to be fascinating,” spit the veteran. “My pen is like Big Ben, this sh*t’s just a classic waiting / Your favorite rapper come at me, I just decapitate him / Out here congratulating these has-been’s who had their highs / These rappers only won their matches because they strategize / I’ll bring Attica to these patterns and here’s my battle cry.”
