Bun B Shoots An Armed Masked Man Trying To Rob His Home
For nearly 30 years, Bun B has rapped about the dangers of street life. UGK built a discography of cautionary tales about life in Port Arthur, Texas with songs such as “One Day” and “M*rder” telling it like it is, without compromise.
Life intersected with art yesterday. Reportedly, the 46-year-old born Bernard Freeman was in a shootout last night (April 23), while defending his home and property from a man attempting a robbery. According to TMZ, a masked man showed up at the door of Bun and his wife Queenie’s Texas home. Wearing a mask, the armed assailant demanded valuables. Bun’s wife reportedly offered the keys to her Audi car, in the family’s garage.
Overhearing the exchange, Bun is said to have come downstairs with a pistol. The rapper and professor confronted the thief as he was entering the car in the garage. The two men exchanged fire. The intruder left on foot, leaving behind his weapon.
TMZ reports that the robber eventually turned up at a Houston area hospital, seeking treatment for a gunshot injury to his shoulder. The suspect was treated and placed under arrest on two counts of armed robbery and one count of burglary.
Although Bun B is a proud grandfather and a past instructor at Rice University, the Underground Kingz co-founder shows that he is all the way down for his, especially when it comes to family.
Less than a week ago, Bun B and Statik Selektah released TrillStatik. The album was recorded on live stream Wednesday (April 17), taking place over approximately 12 hours. Last Saturday (April 20), the release featuring Method Man, Talib Kweli Westside Gunn, Fat Joe, Big K.R.I.T., and others released exclusively on the Tidal platform.
