Watch The Livestream Of The Nipsey Hussle Celebration Of Life Memorial

Today (April 11), Nipsey Hussle will be laid to rest in his hometown of Los Angeles, California. Less than two weeks ago, on March 31 the 33-year-old born Ermias Davidson Asghedom was fatally shot outside of his Crenshaw District store, The Marathon. Now thousands of family, friends, fans, and other loved ones are celebrating the life of Neighbor Nip’ at one of L.A.’s largest venues. An artist who stood for an underrepresented part of the City Of Angels will be honored less than eight miles away, at the Staples Center.

It is the second time an entertainer’s memorial has taken place at the 21,000-seat home of the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers. According to The L.A. Times, the last such event for a celebrity was nearly a decade ago, honoring the life and death of Michael Jackson. Performances from Stevie Wonder, Marsha Ambrosius, and Jhene Aiko are expected to honor the rapper, entrepreneur, community activist, partner, and father of two. Additionally, Nipsey’s partner Lauren London, his brother, and Snoop Dogg are among those who are slated to speak.

Los Angeles Will Name The Intersection Of Crenshaw & Slauson Nipsey Hussle Square

While tickets are required for the thousands expected to attend (blocks of free tickets available online were spoken for within minutes) the ceremony is available for all of the public to watch and pay their respects. Out of respect to the deceased, Nipsey’s family has asked attendees not to photograph or video inside the “Celebration Of Life” event. However, the official stream is sanctioned. The two-hour event will begin at 10 am PST.

Following the streamed ceremony, a funeral procession will travel with Hussle’s casket roughly 25 miles through South Los Angeles. Along the route, Nipsey’s body will pass by The Marathon. Earlier this week, the adjacent intersection was named in his honor. The funeral procession will also travel through Ladera Heights before stopping at a Crenshaw area funeral home.
