ORIGINAL STORY:
Less than 48 hours after the March 31 murder of Nipsey Hussle (born Ermias Davidson Asghedom), the Los Angeles Police Department has publicly declared its homicide suspect. On social media and in a press statement, the LAPD names 29-year-old Eric Holder as the man they believe to be responsible for Sunday’s fatal shooting. In addition to the attack on Nipsey, two other men were wounded by gunfire and hospitalized. According to the Associated Press, one of the other victims was listed in stable condition, while the other refused treatment, citing only minor wounds.

The homicide took place in front of Nipsey’s store, The Marathon (3400 West Slauson Avenue), at approximately 3:20 pm local time on Sunday. According to an ongoing investigation, the shooter exited the passenger side of a white 2016 Chevy Cruze sedan in an adjacent alley, approached three men out front of the store, and opened fire with a pistol. Surveillance video has documented this account. Footage obtained by TMZ explicitly shows the shooter firing on Nipsey, motioning to walk away, then firing on Nipsey twice more. He then kicked the wounded 33-year-old rapper, who succumbed to those shots moments later.

Nipsey Hussle Proved His Dedication Far Beyond His Music

TMZ also reports, “Multiple sources tell us before the shooter unloaded, he had a tense convo with Nipsey. We’re told Nipsey asked him if he had snitched to cops in the past because that was the word on the street. We’re told the suspect felt disrespected, left to get a gun…then returned to get revenge.”

The shooter fled the scene on foot, before returning to the car in the alley from which he entered the plaza. Investigators believe that the getaway driver was a woman. The Cruze had a California license plate number: “7RJD742.” Holder is a onetime resident of Los Angeles. With the tweet, the LAPD released his photograph and provided a hotline for those with more information.
