However, just over three months after the release, people online and in the streets pester Groovy Q with one question, “But when you gonna drop that new sh*t?”

That question becomes a theme on an Alchemist-produced loosie. ALC, who has been putting in work with Q throughout the decade, hosts the song as part of his “Craft Singles” vinyl series. ScHoolboy talks through the electric and jazzy track. He walks Heads through a day in his successful life, and just how absurd the question can be. After a minute, he breaks into verse and shows why his mind is on bigger things.

I dropped this / Between my life, my fame, my body, my daughter, be happy and focused / Stay on that flight like tourists / Runnin’ them lights, no purist / Me and this hood here furious / ‘uh, but when you gonna drop that new sh*t?’ / Come on, my ni**a, you see what I’m doing here take time / Coulda came with the same rhymes,” he replies. True to ALC’s series name, Q makes crafted art.

Last week, Alchemist produced the Layups EP for The Cool Kids and Boldy James. In 2019, he’s worked on albums by Benny The Butcher, Nas, Westside Gunn, Conway The Machine, and Anderson .Paak. He has an upcoming sequel to Yacht Rock. The “Craft Singles” series dates back to 2016. It has included past collaborations with Q (an alternate version of “Hoover Street”), in addition to singles with Spice 1 & MC Eiht, Wiz Khalifa, as well as Roc Marciano.
