Eminem Has A Chance To Add An Emmy To His Grammy & Oscar

Eminem is having a banner 2022. The Detroit, Michigan MC/producer will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame this November. Marshall Mathers is also currently preparing a second collection of Curtain Call, a forthcoming volume of greatest hits that was announced with the arrival of his latest Snoop Dogg collaboration. He also recently linked with CeeLo for an Elvis Presley-inspired soundtrack song, co-produced by Dr. Dre. However, the moment that kicked off Em’s stellar 2022 was an appearance alongside Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, and Kendrick Lamar at February 13’s Super Bowl Halftime Show.

That NBC performance, which saw Eminem perform “Forgot About Dre” and “Lose Yourself,” is now Emmy-nominated. Variety reports that Em, Dre, MJB, K-Dot, and Fif’ are in the running for “Variety Special (Live).” The concert competes against the Oscars, Live in Front of a Studio Audience: The Facts of Life and Diff’rent Strokesthis year’s Grammy Awards, and the Tony Awards.

While the Halftime Show was built around Dr. Dre, an Emmy win puts Eminem in a unique distinction. A win would make him an “EGO,” having won an Emmy, a Grammy, and an Oscar. Marshall Mathers previously won an Oscar for the same self-produced “Lose Yourself” he performed. Em has 15 Grammy Awards, between 2000 and 2015. He last took home “Best Rap Album” for 2013’s Marshall Mathers LP 2.

The Emmys will air September 12 on NBC.
