Teyana Taylor’s Video Shows Her In A Love Triangle With Method Man & Ghostface

With the release of a new video, Teyana Taylor single-handedly revived the style of New York in the ‘90s while also breathing life back into R&B classics of the same era. The G.O.O.D. Music artist self-directed the video for “Gonna Love Me (Remix)” that features Ghostface Killah, Method Man and Raekwon, although the latter doesn’t appear in the visuals.

“Gonna Love Me” is from Teyana’s Kanye-produced, K.T.S.E. which was released last June. The remix featuring the three Wu-Tang Clan members followed in October, and the visuals couldn’t be more fitting.

Method Man Shows These Wack Rappers How To Rock A Trap Beat Properly

The video portrays Teyana as the central connector and tumultuous love interest, in a triangle with Ghost and Meth, and it borrows heavily from previous visuals by the two Wu-Tang Clan members. In the first scene, she and Ghost are embroiled in a heated and somewhat physical argument, reminiscent of the one depicted in Ghost’s “Back Like That,” featuring Ne-Yo. During Method Man’s verse, Teyana is shown donning an outfit paying homage to the one sported by Mary J. Blige in the iconic video for her and Meth’s “You’re All I Need” duet. Through style and imagery, the video marries nostalgia with modern fashion, accompanying the track’s sound expertly.

While Raekwon is not present during his verse, the third scene shows an ill-fated meeting between all three members of the love triangle, and it does not end well.

While this song only features Ghost, Meth and Rae, all Wu members have kept busy this year, celebrating the 25th anniversary of their Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) album. At the beginning of the month, the group took over NPR’s Tiny Desk. Also, just today (December 14), Method Man released the second installment of his Meth Lab series, Season 2: The Lithium. Meanwhile, G.F.K. is on the verge of dropping a collaboration with CZARFACE.
