Joey Bada$$ – Killuminati Pt. 2 (Kendrick Lamar Response)

It might have taken a little longer than anticipated, but one of the most vocal artists on Twitter when it came to “Control” has dropped the hashtags and picked up the mic. On the track “Killuminati Pt. 2,” Pro Era captain Joey Bada$$ steps up to the plate with the latest response to Kendrick Lamar’s now polarizing verse. The Brooklyn MC definitely took offense to Kendrick’s “King of New York line,” spitting “It’s Nathan, all I gotta do is just spit a flame / No escaping / You in a swimming pool of champagne / You set yourself up for that one, mane / The king of New York, huh?/ We ain’t gonna just let that one hang.” A couple of weeks and plenty of responses have passed since “Control” set the Hip-Hop world on fire, but will the verse heard round the world actually achieve what Kendrick intended, which is make everybody step their lyrical game up? It seems to have a gotten a lot of eyes back to bars, but I guess only time will tell.
