One Of 2Pac’s Most Hip-Hop-Minded Songs Gets A Nice New Cookin’ Soul Remix (Audio)

Sometimes Tupac Shakur’s Hip-Hop contributions are underplayed. Sure, ‘Pac was a new kind of superstar rapper at the time of his death in late 1996, but Heads can forget that the native New Yorker was a B-boy too.

Although One Nation never released the album as ‘Pac intended, the group’s recording sessions are said to include contributions and participation from the likes of Buckshot, Tek, General Steele, Busta Rhymes, Nice & Smooth, DJ Premier, and apparently, some conversations with Showbiz, Fat Joe, and more.

One of the more traditional Hip-Hop moments that did release was 1995’s “Old School.” Featuring a famous Grand Puba/Brand Nubian sample, the Me Against The World deep-cut showed ‘Pac’s affinity for Doug E. Fresh & Slick Rick, The Cold Crush Brothers, Eric B. & Rakim, and others, amidst a time in his life where he was perceived to begin attacking a whole coast of artists.

Well, Spanish production/DJ duo Cookin’ Soul (who have produced joints for AZ, Game, Jean Grae, and many more) remixed “Old School” for the new school…
