Dipset’s Core 4 Members Are Together, Recording A New Mixtape
2015 marks five years since Cam’ron and Jim Jones laid to rest their differences, and began what has become a slow crawl back to restoring The Diplomats activity. In 2010, the clique was photographed in the studio with Dr. Dre, an artist who had never previously worked with Cam’ron, Jim Jones, Juelz Santana, or Freekey Zekey. By 2011, Dre’s courtship led the Harlem, New York collective better known as Dipset to ink a deal with Interscope Records.
That was was four years ago, next month. While the clique performed a 2013 reunion show in New York City, for the decade-old birthday of Diplomatic Immunity, no new projects surfaced—and the crew left Interscope uneventfully.
Now, both Funkmaster Flex and Just Blaze have confirmed that Dipset is ready to rock for 2015. One year following the reunion of Young Buck, Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks, and 50 Cent (with new member Kidd Kidd) as G-Unit, the four founding Diplomats members are said to be back at it.
Cam and Capo are no longer in tension, according to Flex. Juelz and Zeke’ are also in the fold, as the crew will host a five-hour segment on HOT 97 radio Monday night (January 5). Later this year, a mixtape is slated to follow, featuring beats from some of Hip-Hop’s biggest producers, including DJ Mustard and Swizz Beatz—per Flex.
On the mixtape front, Dipset last released Diplomats, Volume 5 back in 2005.
Think The Diplomats can match what G-Unit accomplished in 2014?
