Kxng Crooked Goes Hard Over a Beat That Recalls Vintage Dr. Dre (Audio)

Kxng Crooked, formerly known as Crooked I, returns with a new banger than shows why he deserves his new title.

Producer, Jonathan Elkaer, is a Denmark-native whose style on “I Don’t Give a F**k” can be compared to a Chronic 2001-era Dr. Dre, which only adds to Crooked’s delivery. While the song song would be right at home in any club, a closer listen reveals his trademark lyrical prowess.

Though he made his name change official in the Shady CXVYPHER back in 2014, “Mr. I Don’t Give a F**k” is one of few tracks he’s released under the new moniker, so many fans of the Crooked MC may still be wondering what this change signifies.

Here’s what he told MTV last year, in a compelling statement:

“Everything needs to change and everything has to evolve. Creatively, I just want to go other places. I just think that was the appropriate title to describe where I want to take it. People ask me, “Why the X instead of the I?” Well, the X symbolizes the Roman numeral 10 and it’s also the multiplication sign. So, I’m really just trying to challenge myself to be ten times better. Now, you’ve got people saying, “You’ve got this king and that king and that king,” you know, when it comes to rappers and my name change. But I’m like, “Yo, I don’t ever base what I do on what other rappers do.” I base it on the people who are supporters of my music and trying to be better than I was yesterday. That’s my main ambition when it comes to music. Plus, I know my culture. I know where I come from. I know I’ve got the blood of kings in me so it’s also some higher knowledge sh—. So, it just seemed appropriate.”

Lend your ear to the Kxng and check out Mr. I Don’t Give a F**k, a track that will either have you leaning back in your seat or standing on the edge of it.
