RJD2 Returns To Full MC Albums. Catch A Glimpse With STS (Audio)

The nostalgic production of RJD2 blends with the easygoing yet rousing wordplay of STS (a/k/a Sugar Tongue Slim) in their latest collaboration “420,” released on the calendar date. In their past work together, the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based tandem have blessed Heads with soulful joints such as “See You Leave” (From RJD2’s More is Than Isn’t) and are joining forces again for a project dedicated to just them two.

Any followers of RJD2 know he’s got a strong track record of collaborations with top-notch lyricists including MF DOOM, Mos Def, Phonte, and more. Previously, he’s done full-length projects with Aceyalone, Blueprint (as Soul Position), and his role in MHz. In an interview with Rolling Stone, RJD2 explained why this new project (STS x RJD2, May 5) is just as meaningful:

“STS is one of my favorite rappers to make waves in the last three to four years,” he begins, “We got connected through a mutual friend and hit the ground running on making music together here in Philly. He has a way with words, and his own fully developed style; we wound up making some soulful, honest Hip-Hop music that we are both quite proud of, and can’t wait for people to hear.”

Take a listen to “420” and stay tuned for more of the duo’s soulful synergy:
