Dr. Dre’s New Album Will Not Be Released Today…But It’s Coming Soon (Audio)

Earlier this week, Ice Cube set the web on fire when he stated during an interview that Dr. Dre had created an album inspired by the forthcoming motion picture Straight Outta Compton (8/14), and that it would be released on August 1. However, new information suggests the album will not be released today. Instead, Rolling Stone reports that the album will be announced later this evening during Dr. Dre’s radio show, The Pharmacy, on Apple Music.

The album will reportedly feature all new music produced by Dr. Dre and guest artists include Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and an N.W.A. reunion. The album also will not be the mythical Detox album in disguise, but an actual new body of work related to the F. Gary Gray-directed N.W.A. biopic.

Over the years, several songs that were rumored to be from Detox have leaked. As we wait for Dre’s first official album in more than sixteen years, since 1999’s 2001, here’s a playlist of some of the tracks many say were in the works for Detox.

Tune in to Dr. Dre’s The Pharmacy on Apple Music’s Beats 1 at 6pm EST.
