The Game’s Flow is Anything But Short on ‘El Chapo’ (Audio)

Translated as “small in stature” in English, the words “el chapo” conjure up an image of a swaggering Mexican drug lord rather than a diminutive personality, and for good reason. Earlier this year, the real-life El Chapo – a longtime kingpin in the world of Latin American cartels born Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera- wound up all over headlines for escaping a Mexican prison (his second such achievement) and then engaging in a Twitter beef with Donald Trump after putting a bounty on the presidential candidate’s head. Loera’s influence has now reached another part of pop culture, that of the Rap world, and like Pablo Escobar before him, Loera’s likeness and legacy of crime is fodder for MCs.

On the heels of an announcement unveiling the 38-track list for his upcoming release, The Documentary 2, the Game has released the Skrillex-assisted banger “El Chapo,” the latest single off of his much anticipated follow-up to 2005’s The Documentary. Produced by Bangladesh (Weezy’s “A Milli” and “6 Foot 7 Foot”), the track is a thunderous piece of braggadocio that is certain to help make the upcoming double-disc hugely successful. Having already released “100” with Drake, the Game will attempt his most ambitious release yet, living up to his name by reinventing how albums are released in today’s digital-obsessed era. The first half of the album will be released on October 9, followed one week later by Disc 2. Until then, press play below and enjoy what can only be described as straight heat.
