Joyner Lucas Stunned The BET Cyphers. He Brings That Excitement To A Busta Rhymes Collabo (Audio)

Since the 1990s, artists from Massachusetts have aimed to put New England Hip-Hop on the big stage. Between Gang Starr’s Guru, Made Men (f/k/a Almighty R.S.O.), and Edo. G, a number of MCs have signed deals large and small. Acts like REKS, Akrobatik, Mr. Lif, 7L & Esoteric, and Termanology (among others) have elevated the Beantown independent Hip-Hop scene to new plateaus, as radio looks for its next New England MC.

Joyner Lucas may be the next one to blow. Last week, the Worcester, Mass’ MC dazzled stages on the 2015 BET Hip Hop Awards “Internet” Cypher which aired before the show. Among those who watched the performance in Atlanta, Georgia was Busta Rhymes—who must have been wildly impressed with what he saw.

Like Bus’, Joyner is a fast-rapping MC who can inject a passion and fiery drive into his bars. These two forces of nature come together on “Jumanji.” This is no children’s book, as the multi-platinum veteran and hopeful create a lyrical stampede, filled with plenty of images from the animal kingdom.

Does a showcase like this have mainstream potential? Should the Flipmode Squad make that move?
