Royce Da 5’9″, O.C., REKS & Droog Make Some Revolutionary Boom Bap (Audio)

New Jersey veteran K-Def has remixed much of DJ EFN’s Another Time album. This go-round, the onetime Marley Marl protege invites listeners to revisit “Revolutionary Ride Music,” which features verses from Your Old Droog, Royce Da 5’9″, REKS, and O.C. In his remix, The Garden State producer takes a more somber approach to the MC-advocated revolution. Though there are some similarities to the original Buckwild production, it is in the contrasting elements where K-Def’s unique style rings true. While Buck’s beat is a militia war-cry, K’s instrumental could be a rally-call for a band of warriors, out to stomp opponents into the mud. Either way, it’s all-out combat.
