Rome Clientel & DJ Concept Bask In Life’s Pleasures With Chuuwee & Rick Gonzalez (Audio Premiere)

After making considerable noise in recent years, the Dirt Disciples (Rome Clientel and DJ Concept) are poised to release an EP this week. On October 9, the pair of New Yorkers (Elmira and Long Island, respectively) will drop The Ambition EP on Soulspazm Records (Torae, Pumpkinhead, Marco Polo).

“Life Is Good” is one moment that stands out. Led off by Rick Gonzalez (f/k/a Realm Reality), the verse looks at the actor/MC’s come-up, and the precipice of leaving a lasting mark in the arts. With his deep, slightly raspy voice, the Just Blaze-cosigned Rome comes in next, comparing his craft to blue collar simple pleasures, and admiring the reach of his words. Sacramento, California’s Chuuwee comes in next, with his own sunshine-drenched idea of a peaceful epiphany. All three MCs have very differing flows, but all find the overlapping satisfaction in making celebrated independent Hip-Hop. The song, with a Biz Markie-inspired chorus, finds joys in mic-rocking, making love, and marrying passions with profits. If you know where to look, life is indeed great.
