Fabolous Gets Ceremonial Key To Brooklyn & A Street Named After Him

In 2007, Fabolous released the song “Brooklyn” with Jay Z and Uncle Murda. That moment was one of many places where the Street Fam/Desert Storm/Def Jam Records artist pays homage to the borough that raised him. Throughout the 2000s, ‘Loso has become one of BK’s most successful musical sons. In a Rap tradition that includes The Notorious B.I.G. and Jay, Fab’ has been a Brooklyn MC with a #1 album, as well as a handful of gold and platinum plaques.

Apparently, the love is mutual. Last week (March 9) Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams awarded Fabolous with a symbolic key to the city, as well as street named in his honor. The event took place at IconTalks. According to HipHopDX, those present included one of Fab’s mentors, DJ Clue, as well as Ryan Leslie.

It has not yet been stated where in Brooklyn the street will be dedicated. Fab’ was brought up in Bedford-Stuyvesant, the same section as Biggie Smalls.

At the top of 2017, Fabolous released Trappy New Years, a free mixtape with Trey Songz. Late 2014’s The Young OG Project peaked at #14 on the charts. This year, the MC is expected to drop a collaborative Def Jam project with LOX member Jadakiss, Freddie vs. Jason.
