It’s a concept album about present day life for people born in the 80’s (the era of Reaganomics, the crack epidemic and the onset of AIDS). Fast-forward 20+ years and Kendrick Lamar tackles a number of issues from the profane to the profound. The music is incredible and the lyrics are clever, intelligent and introspective.
