The video for Kendrick Lamar’s “Backseat Freestyle” is like a microcosm for the good kid, m.A.A.d. city album. It’s set in Compton (in part in the home where Kendrick grew up), features dope rhymes, skits from the parents and an appearance from “Sherane.” Ultimately, it shows how Kendrick’s talents were able to take him from Rosecrans to the Eiffel Tower (and, if you know the song, you know the significance of that).
