Here’s a really dope mixtape from newcomer, 16-year old Bishop Nehru. Like his contemporaries, Joey Bada$$ and Astro, he has a retro flow and a true respect and love for 90’s era East Coast hip-hop. In fact, he takes his name in part from Tupac’s iconic character in Juice (see below for the other part). His mixtape also includes rare tracks from MF Doom, Dilla, DJ Premier, Madlib, and young Bishop, himself. Get familiar with the mixtape below and get prepared to hear from Bishop Nehru for a long time. Check out Nehruvia. Related: Astro – Deadbeats & Lazy Lyrics (Mixtape)

Here’s more about how Bishop Nehru chose his name:

“Bishop chose his name from inspiration taken from Tupac’s character in the movie “Juice,” noting that the character of Bishop inspires him “to go out and get mine, you’ve got to earn respect.” The Nehru is taken from the the former prime minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru, who worked closely with legendary peacemaker Ghandi but never got the credit for his work.”
