Does Kendrick Lamar Have a New Album Coming? TDE’s Top Dawg Announces 6 New Releases for 2014.

More than any other artist in Hip-Hop, 2013 was the year of Kendrick Lamar and, by proxy, TDE. Kendrick took the title of MTV’s Hottest MC in the game and his Control verse reigned fire on an entire generation of MCs. Ab-Soul and Schoolboy Q got some overdue love from XXL, being named Freshmen, and newcomers SZA and Isaiah Rashad burst on the scene. Jay Rock also made some high impact cameos. And, the TDE cypher Shook the house at the BET Hip Hop Awards, literally and figuratively. All of that activity took place without TDE dropping a single album in 2013. That being the case, you can only imagine what’s coming when Anthony Tiffith, the Top Dawg himself, announces that TDE is releasing not 1, not 2 but SIX albums in 2014 (see below for the tweet). Schoolboy Q is a lock. Ab-Soul, Jay Rock and SZA are good bets too. And, as recent photos of Kendrick Lamar in the studio with Alchemist suggest, King Kendrick may well be in the mix, too. Only time will tell, but suddenly 2014 is looking pretty damn good for Hip-Hop.

Here’s the tweet that started it all:
