Diamond D Digs in the Crates and Pulls Out a Tough Beat for Big Rec (Audio)
Like D.I.T.C. brethren Lord Finesse and Showbiz, Diamond D is not big on a ton of production of output. The Bronx “best producer on the mic” responsible for Fat Joe’s discovery has worked with everybody from Natalie Cole to Aim, but the Atlanta-based O.G. is a Head first. Over the years, Diamond’s made scorching beats for The Fugees, The Alkaholiks, and Busta Rhymes. Now, D-Squizzy is back working with relative newcomer Big Rec.
In his career of crate-digging and intricate sampling, Diamond’s never been known for a terribly aggressive sound, a la DJ Premier, D/R Period, or Havoc. However, on “Bull’s Eye,” D gets up outta his seat with some charged production that snatches the spotlight and gives Rec the look it takes to turn Heads.
