Just months after dropping Gotham Down: cycle 1: Love In Infinity (Lo-Fi) via her Bandcamp, Jean Grae is releasing another album tonight (January 14). Grae’s Jeanie album, as its called, includes “The Mask.” Here, you hear the ultra-talented daughter of Jazz vocalist Sathima Bea Benjamin dabble into some singing. In the verses, she breathes hope and self-deprecation together, a trait she’s carried throughout her career. This is an exciting glimpse of an album from an artist who never stops working, after years manacled by label drama.
