According to TMZ, Suge Knight, former CEO of Death Row Records, was shot 6 times during a pre-VMA party hosted by Chris Brown at the Los Angeles club 1Oak. At approximately 1:30am, shots were fired inside the packed club and Knight was reportedly 1 of 3 people shot. Tensions were already high at 1Oak prior to the shooting, as allegedly the Game and his crew got into an altercation with the club’s security after being denied admission. Presently, there is no indication that the events were related. Knight underwent surgery and is expected to recover.

This adds to a growing list of violent incidents that have occurred at events surrounding high profile awards shows, including countless events at The Source Awards, Chris Brown’s attack on Rihanna prior to the 2009 Grammy Awards and the murder of the Notorious B.I.G. after the 1997 Soul Train Awards.
