Ras Kass & Apollo Brown Trade Memories With Pharoahe Monch & Rakaa (Audio)

Apollo Brown beats beckon reflection from MCs. Whether O.C., Journalist 103, or Roc Marciano, rappers tend to get nostalgic when they get an opportunity to touch one of these soul-sampling gems from the Michigan native.

On “Memories,” Ras Kass steps in to recall his days in Watts (before moving to C-Arson), where the ’70s baby lyricist was getting into trouble in the streets and the sheets, as he tells it. Ras is joined by two other skilled wordsmiths in Pharoahe Monch and Rakaa Iriscience. The Dilated-meets-Organized delegation hit their spots, remembering simpler times that played a role in shaping their now.
