If anybody’s able to remix Your Old Droog, it’s J-Zone and Sacha Jenkins. The former, a Queens veteran with productions for Akinyele, R.A. The Rugged Man, and The Juggaknots, hits the drum pads with precision, while O.G. journalist/musician Jenkins (ego trip!, Mass Appeal, The White Mandingos) hits the guitar licks. Together, with a fresh take from Droog, this makes “Secondhand Gunsmoke” (remix to “Gunsmoke Cologne”) sound like something out of Paul C.’s studio.

Droog admits that he’s not as cocky as his rhymes sound, while calling back to the exact era (in verbal imagery) that musically, Zone and Sacha recreate.
