Kendrick Lamar’s new single “i” took the internet by storm and by surprise. The track, with its Isley Brothers-fueled sample, was a sonic departure from Kendrick’s previous material. When you dig deeper however, the song was fully consistent with K. Dot’s often complex message of struggle and, ultimately, redemption.
