Half of Slaughterhouse (Royce Da 5’9″ and Joell Ortiz) have extensively worked with DJ Premier, while Crooked I and Joe Budden have not. Back in 2009, before Eminem and Shady Records took backing of the four-man lyrical militia, on a tight eOne Entertainment budget, it was DJ Premier who hosted the quartet in his iconic HeadCourterz Studios, and even mixed part of the subsequent early group recordings.

Now, five-plus year later, the Eminem-backed collective hits HeadCourterz for a proper track with Works Of Mart. In classic fashion when Premo produces hardcore MCs (Just-Ice, Bumpy Knuckles, M.O.P, Nas), he laces Slaughterhouse with a scratch-heavy thumper that feels like it could be a holdover from Gang Starr’s The Ownerz era.

The wordplay is on red alert as each MC is out to dazzle each other and their legend in the control room with “Ya’ll Ready Know,” which may get heard by millions care of Eminem’s November 26 Shady XV compilation. Wooh-Ha!
