Cole is his own featured artist on “Apparently.” The majority of the song finds Cole in stream of consciousness mode singing about such intimate things as his guilt over being unaware his mother was losing her house on Forest Hills (part of the title of his new album) to foreclosure. In the middle of the song, however, Cole shifts gears and blazes a ridiculously hot verse that even he says is “showing off.” The video complements the song’s intimacy with shots of Cole in muted lighting and footage of the Forest Hills house.
