As The Colbert Report winds down, Kendrick Lamar had the distinct honor of being the show’s last musical guest ever. Following in the footsteps of artists like Paul McCartney, R.E.M., Jack White and Nas, Kendrick stepped up with a world premiere of a brand new untitled song. Not to be outshone by his predecessors, Kendrick ended the franchise’s music chapter on a strong note. The song features Kendrick kicking a blistering verse about resisting temptation, staying true to yourself and not selling out, over a live flute, bass and keys, and the soulful sax sounds of Terrace Martin. Bilal also contributes with background vocals. Check out the video (the performance starts around the four minute mark).
