2014 has been a breakout year for Mick Jenkins. His conceptual mixtape The Water[s] delved into subject matters not often covered in Hip-Hop, such as environmental change and dealing with water shortages. He continues to showcase his creativity on “Fate,” a song about an impending breakup. The soundtrack is comprised of the deep jazzy loops Jenkins has favored of late and the accompanying visuals are filled with trippy animated images that support the song’s themes. This is a nice departure from the norm.
