2015 Dilla Weekend Hits Miami – Madlib, Joey Bada$$, Slum Village & More To Rock

After years of ongoing festivities, Dilla Day has now become Dilla Weekend. The family-sanctioned event honoring late producer/MC James “J Dilla” Yancey (a/k/a Jay Dee) has expanded and relocated to Miami, Florida. On February 5, 6, 7, and 8, the affair will take place in Dade County, with weekend-long tickets starting at $66.

On this year’s marquee are Dilla’s former group, Slum Village, his JayLib partner, Madlib, his influence, Pete Rock, his perceived protege, Black Milk, as well as Camp Lo, Talib Kweli, and Joey Bada$$. Notably, on Bada$$’ upcoming B4.Da.$$ album, a Dilla co-produced track (with The Roots) will appear.

“[J.] Dilla’s music is timeless and lives in all of us,” explains Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey, Dilla’s mother, who will be on hand as host.  “I expect Miami to become the icon of event holders for the Dilla legacy, and raise the bar for events globally.”
